Roanoke Town Council dissolves park board

The Roanoke Town Council dissolved the town’s park board at its meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 19.

Council President Dave Tucker made the recommendation to disband the board, citing low membership, which routinely prevented it from functioning due to lack of a quorum.

Until a new park board can be formed, the town council will assume its responsibilities. Tucker noted that Park Employee Bob Scott and Park Liaison Ryan Smith would continue to serve in those roles.

In other business, council approved contracts for fire protection and first responder services with Jackson and Union townships. Jackson will pay the town $21,550 while Union will pay $4,042.50.
