Gov. Holcomb appoints Jamie Groves to fill last year of retiring Hakes’ term

Gov. Eric J. Holcomb has announced Jamie M. Groves as his appointment to the Huntington County Circuit Court.

Groves will succeed Judge Thomas M. Hakes, who retires Dec. 31.

The appointment is for the remainder of Hakes’ term, which ends Dec. 31, 2018.

Groves currently serves as the chief deputy prosecutor in Huntington County. He has been with the Huntington County Prosecutor’s Office for the past 20 years and has served as its chief deputy for the past 10 years.

Prior to attending law school, Groves worked as a juvenile court probation officer and juvenile detention officer in Porter County. He received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and his law degree from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis.    

Groves will be sworn in as the Huntington County Circuit Court judge on a date yet to be determined.
