Bridge maintenance to start in county

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that bridge maintenance is planned on two Huntington County bridges beginning on or after today, Monday, Jan. 29, weather permitting.

During daytime hours, motorists may experience shoulder closures and alternating lane closures with a temporary traffic signal to alternate vehicles over the single-lane bridge in the following locations:

• Ind.-124 over the Salamonie River, between C.R. 350W and C.R. 300W beginning Monday, Jan. 29, weather permitting.

• Ind.-16 over Clear Creek, between C.R. 530W and Ind.-5, beginning in mid-February, weather permitting.

Some work may be done with traffic directed by a flagger. Drivers should be prepared for stopped traffic.

INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through an active construction zone.

Daytime restrictions on the two Huntington County bridges are expected to remain through late March, weather permitting. The contract was awarded to Pioneer Associates for $3.7 million and includes the rehabilitation and maintenance of 14 structures throughout the Fort Wayne District.
