Pathfinder Services staffers attend training from NeighborWorks

Staff members of Pathfinder Services recently attended the NeighborWorks Training Institute offered by NeighborWorks America in Washington, DC.

The main symposium of the training was Pathways Out of Poverty: Investing in Independence, Keeping the Pathways Open.

Over the course of the symposium, several themes were explored related to the premise that strong local community developers play a critical role in keeping these pathways out of poverty open and equitably accessible to the communities and individuals who need them.

Additional courses were offered at the training event. Categories for these courses included affordable housing, asset management, community and neighborhood revitalization, community economic development, community engagement and more.
Attending the training from Pathfinder Services was Alivia Eppler, a NeighborWorks AmeriCorps Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA).

Eppler is focused on the ongoing development of processes to recruit, engage and retain volunteers and directly participate in activities to spread awareness of the programs offered by Pathfinder Services. She has been in the VISTA position since August 2017.

The second staff member who attended was Samantha Garcia. Garcia is the Rural LISC AmeriCorps community assessment associate with Pathfinder Services. She has been in her role since Oct. 2017 and is helping to develop a Community Arts Plan for Huntington.

The third and final attendee was Kristy Wall, who is the VISTA coordinator and a HomeOwnership counselor for the Pathfinder HomeOwnership Center.
