Riverview Middle School’s Future Cities Team Panacea, which took first place at the recent regional competition in Fort Wayne, will go to the national contest in Washington, DC next week. Team members are (front row, from left) eighth graders Kendra Sandlin, Garret Johnson, Jacob Daugherty, Grace Dill, Addison Wiley, Josie Eckert and Jonathan York; and (back row, from left) teacher and coach Bill Bostain and mentor Albert Bostain. It’s the fifth time that Riverview will be sending a team to Washington, DC, where they will compete in a field of 50 teams from across the U.S. and several foreign countries. The project challenges youth to create and engineer a “city of the future,” with innovations to meet the needs of cities a century from now.
