Voter registration deadline coming up quickly

The deadline to register to vote in the general election is approaching.

The last day to register, or update registration, is Tuesday, Oct. 9. Requests received after that date will not be processed in time for Election Day on Nov. 6.

To be eligible to vote in Huntington County, one must be a county resident, a United States citizen and a minimum of 18 years old on Election Day.

To register, visit www.IndianaVoters.com, where registration can be completed or a voter registration application can be printed off.

Completed applications can be dropped off at the Huntington County Clerk’s Office, located on the second floor of the Huntington County Courthouse at 201 N. Jefferson St., Huntington.

Applications can also be mailed to Huntington County Voter Registration, P.O. Box 228, Huntington, IN 46750.

Also, registration can be completed by visiting the Clerk’s Office or an Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles branch. The Huntington branch is located at 2982 W. Park Drive.

Updating registration is required if a voter has moved, changed their name or previously been taken off the poll list. This can be done by visiting www.In dianaVoters.com or the Clerk’s Office.

In addition to being registered, voters must be able to produce a state-issued photo ID when they cast their ballot. An ID can be issued at any Indiana BMV branch.
