State Rep. Dan Leonard (R-Huntington) was recently reappointed to serve as chair of the Local Government Finance Subcommittee of House Ways and Means.

“Passing an honest, balanced budget is foremost on my mind this session,” Leonard said. “It’s what Hoosiers want and what they deserve from their state legislature. By working diligently, I’m confident we’ll deliver another fiscally responsible budget.”

Leonard will also serve as the chair of the House Rules and Legislative Procedures Committee, taking the reins from State Rep. Jerry Torr (R-Carmel). Torr will now serve as the vice chair of the committee.

Leonard will once again serve on the House Judiciary and House Employment, Labor and Pension committees.

Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. House lawmakers will convene on Jan. 3 at 1:30 p.m. in the house chamber for the first day of the 2019 legislative session.

Standing committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas.
