PHH’s Rehab Center closed Monday for move

Monday, Dec. 17, the Rehab and Wellness Center at Parkview Huntington Hospital (PHH) will close to patients and Adult Fitness Center members. The center was also closed Friday, Dec. 14. The closure allowed all pediatric and adult therapies, cardiac rehab services and the fitness center to temporarily relocate to a portion of the new addition.

The move marks the beginning of Phase 2 of the hospital expansion project, and provides a way for the rehab and wellness department to continue to serve the community while the existing space is renovated. On Tuesday, Dec. 18, the department will again be open for patient care.

Because the entrance inside the hospital lobby will be closed for construction, therapy patients and fitness center members will use a new temporary entrance located in the hallway connecting the hospital to the medical office building. That entrance will open onto a temporary registration area. Once a patient has registered, they will enter the adult rehab space in the new addition and be guided to the appropriate area.

Adult rehab and cardiac rehab patients will share a gym until the entire addition and the renovated existing space open in April 2019.

One notable exception to the closure and relocation will be nutrition counseling and diabetes education. These services, which have already taken up temporary quarters in the PHH chapel, will remain in that location until just before the April opening.
