Free legal consultations Monday as part of ‘Talk to a Lawyer Today’

The Volunteer Lawyer Program of Northeast Indiana, in conjunction with the Indiana State Bar Association, will sponsor “Talk to a Lawyer Today,” a program to provide free legal consultations to those who cannot afford counsel, on Monday, Jan. 21, at the LaFontaine Center, in Huntington, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The program is held annually as a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. While this program is geared toward low-income individuals, it is open to the public without regard to income. Attorneys will provide free 10 to 15-minute consultations to answer general questions and offer legal information. This is advice only, not legal representation.

The LaFontaine Center is located at 208 W. State St., Huntington.

Additionally, a hotline will be available to residents throughout the area who are unable to attend the event in person. The coverage area includes Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells and Whitley counties. Individuals may call 407-0917 or toll free at 877-407-0917 on Jan. 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
