The Huntington Metro Kiwanis recognized outstanding eighth-graders Janna Teusch and Jared Cartwright from Crestview Middle School at the club’s Feb. 18 meeting.

Teusch is the daughter of David and Kris Teusch. She is a straight-A student who has been involved in cheerleading, band, gymnastics, track, church and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Agriculture and Math).

She is looking forward to attending Huntington North High School, and the challenges she will have there. Teusch plans on attending college but is undecided at this time where and what field of study.

Cartwright is the son of Jeff and Lydia Cartwright. He has been involved in Boy Scouts, ASPCL, academic super bowl, music and has played the piano and clarinet. His favorite subject is math and he is a geometry honors student.

Cartwright plans to attend college but is undecided as to where, but wants to major in math and then find a job utilizing his math skills.

Both were nominated by their teachers and were thankful to them for the honor as well as Metro Kiwanis. Each student was given a plaque for the honor and will have their names engraved on the outstanding student plaque made by Huntington Metro Kiwanis member Jim Dinius.
