The Huntington County Soil and Water Conservation District supervisors and staff met with Huntington County Commissioners for the signing of a proclamation designating April 28 through May 5 as the 2019 Soil and Water Stewardship Week.

The theme for this year is “Life in the Soil:  Dig Deeper.”

Andrew Ambriole, SWCD supervisor, says the district encourages all Huntington County residents, local businesses, nonprofit organizations, government entities, agencies, schools and other institutions to be responsible in their use of water resources.

“Soil is the foundation for everything we need in our daily lives, from the food we eat, the clothes we wear, to the houses we live in,” Ambriole stated. “Our soils are very important for sustaining life and is why we need to do all we can to protect and improve the quality of our soils for future generations.”
