The Huntington County Community Foundation announces Olivia Rosen, Cheyenne Karst and Zach Daugherty, graduating seniors at Huntington North High School, as recipients of 2019 HCCF Lilly Finalists Scholarships totaling $1,500 each for each of their four years of undergraduate study.

Rosen will study occupational therapy at Huntington University and ultimately earn a doctorate degree in occupational therapy through HU. She is the granddaughter of Lisa and Tom Berry, of Andrews.

A member of the National Honor Society, Rosen served as a senior leader in Huntington North Viking Volume and president of the 2019 Class Council. Her volunteer experiences include pushing nursing home residents in wheelchairs during a zoo trip, various community service projects through Viking New Tech, tutoring through National Honor Society and organizing as her senior VNT Capstone a stuff-a-truck event for a food pantry.

Karst is the daughter of Elizabeth and David Karst, of Huntington. She will attend Purdue University to study Agriculture Education. Her career goal is teaching agriculture and, in that way, making a difference in the world by positively influencing her students.

A member of the National Honor Society, Karst’s extracurricular activities are as a chapter officer in FFA, four years as a participant in 4-H and as a member of Junior Leaders. Her community service activities included packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, volunteering for Cancer Services of Huntington County and assisting with project judging at 4-H.

Daugherty will attend Purdue University to study kinesiology or pre-med, with a minor in business, and play baseball for the Boilermakers. Career plans include additional schooling to specialize in some aspect of the medical field and possibly start his own health care business. He is the son of Deb and Chad Daugherty, of Huntington.

A member of the National Honor Society, Daugherty has played basketball and baseball for Huntington North, and been involved in Operation Impact, Student Athletic Board and Huntington Youth Leadership. He is also a Junior Rotarian. His volunteer activities include serving as a peer tutor, sorting cans and boxes at Love In the Name of Christ, and helping at the Huntington City-Township Public Library and the Huntington Soup Kitchen.

Past Lilly finalists still receiving HCCF scholarships for their 2018-2019 school years are Sam Daugherty, Alexandra Forsythe, Alexa Hill, Zach Lippe and Melanie Lisinicchia.
