Everett, Gates named to receive Cecil Scholarships

The Huntington County Community Foundation announces that Ali Everett and Tyler Gates are recipients of 2019 Ephraim (Mike) and Mary Cecil Scholarships totaling $675 each.

Everett, a rising junior at Huntington University, is majoring in missions and international development studies with minors in Bible, refugee studies and business. She is the daughter of Trisha and Brandon Everett, of Huntington.

Her extracurricular activities include choreographer, Global Vision, Delight and co-founder of a student leader support group. Her volunteer activities involve the Campus Life and Emmanuel Community Church.

Gates, a rising senior at Indiana Wesleyan University, is double majoring in worship arts and music ministry. He is the son of Linda and Troy Gates, of Huntington.

At IWU, Gates has participated in Indiana Wesleyan University Chorale, His Instrument (a traveling worship ministry team), chapel leader, tutor, mentor and dance captain for IWU’s School of Music. His volunteer activities include IWU Marion Outreach and as choreographer for IWU Chorale.

The Ephraim (Mike) and Mary Cecil Scholarship is awarded to a member of Trinity United Methodist Church who is pursuing an education in ministry of Christian faith or other Huntington County students pursuing careers in ministry of Christian faith.
