The Huntington County Humane Society and Huntington County Humane Shelter has received a grant from the Huntington County Community Foundation and EcoLab.

The grant was presented on Wednesday, May 12.

The grant, in the amount of $780.32, will be used to purchase animal safety equipment including an animal ramp for the animal control van, two folding nets, three live animal traps and one roll of kennel mat.

The nets will be used to safely transfer feral cats and the kennel mat is used to reduce animal disease in the shelter, providing more physical comfort to the kenneled animals and keeping them dry.

The Huntington County Community Foundation donated a match of $644 for the purchase of the kennel mat.

In addition to the grant money, the foundation has committed $2,856 toward the shelter's building fund.
