Riverview Middle School students, Kiersten Arivett, Aidan Beaver, Andrew Crider and Gabriella Martinez were named artists of the month for October by the LaFontaine Arts Council. Each student was presented with a framed certificate of achievement.

Arivett, an eighth-grader and daughter of Ryan Lewis and Mary Ellen Lewis of Huntington, was recognized by Chris Husband, Riverview TV teacher.

“Kiersten has been a hard-working student that has quickly picked up on all the aspects of filming Riverview TV,” Husband wrote. “Kiersten appears to be quiet and shy, but really opens up in front of the camera.”

Beaver, the son of Scot and Kerry Beaver of Andrews, an eighth-grade choir member, was nominated by his choir teacher, Danielle Webb.

Webb states, “Aidan has shown excellent leadership skills while being dance captain for Riverview Singers. He is a very hard worker and has shown great growth the last three years at Riverview.”

Beaver’s accolades include 2017 “Beauty and the Beast,” 2018 “Addams Family” as Lucas and 2019 “Willy Wonka Jr.” as Mr. Bucket. He is also the 2019-20 dance captain.

Crider, an eighth-grader, is the son of Keith and Linda Crider, of Huntington. Band Teacher James Court nominated him for his work as the section leader.

“Andrew also does a great job of leading by example,” Court wrote. “In addition, he is marching this year with the HNHS Marching Vikes.”

Martinez, the daughter of Steven and Tarra Martinez of Huntington, was nominated by her visual art teacher, Brenda S. Betley.

According to Betley, “Gabi is always helpful, ready and willing to learn. She explores her creativity everyday in class. Gabi is a joy to have as a student.”
