The LaFontaine Arts Council has named its November Artists of the Month, which are four students at Crestview Middle School. They are Gloria Friesen, choir; Emily Good, art; Cameron Oswald, Crestview Television; and Cadence Reed, band. All are eighth-grade students.

• Gloria Friesen is a member of the Crestview choir. She has been in CMS musicals for three years and has been a finalist in the school’s Jazz Café programs.

Her teacher, Bryan Ringo, nominated her, calling her one of the “happiest students I have ever met.”

“She is always positive, even in the hardest of situations,” he writes. “She also strengthens each of her classmates with encouraging comments and an example of dedication. She also goes above and beyond (in) everything she does.”

Friesen is the daughter of Meg and Jared Friesen, of Huntington.

• Emily Good was nominated in the field of art. Her teacher, Liesel Haupert, nominated her for the honor.

“Emily is a hard-working and creative art student who comes to class each day with a positive attitude,” Haupert writes. “She also is kind and respectful to other students and myself as she excels in her artwork.”

Good is the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Good, of Huntington.

• Cameron Oswald was nominated in the area of Crestview Television (CTV). He has also been a Crestview Student of the Month. His nominating teacher is Peter Kitchen.

“Cam is a great planner and works well with all students,” Kitchen notes. “He is a natural leader.”

Oswald is the son of Troy and Keely Oswald, of Huntington.

• Cadence Reed is a member of the band. She has been a solo and ensemble member, an All-Region Band member and an HNHS Marching Band member. Band Director Doug McElhaney nominated her for the award.

“Cadence is a first chair flute player and has participated in solo and ensemble contests and was selected for the All-Region Honors Band,” he writes.

Reed is a Huntington resident.

Each student received a certificate noting his or her achievement.
