Airport to pay city back unused loan money for fuel farm

A 2019 project at the Huntington Municipal Airport came in under budget, learned the Huntington Common Council at its meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

The project saw a new fuel farm installed at the airport. The airport’s management received a loan of $460,000 from the city to complete the work. With the project ultimately coming in under budget, Clerk-Treasurer Christi McElhaney reported that the airport would be paying back $150,000 that it did not use. Grants from the Federal Aviation Administration, which the airport is set to receive later this year, will help it pay back the remainder of the loan, she noted.
