HU Dept. of Biblical Studies to bring Keener to campus on March 31

The Department of Bible and Religion at Huntington University will welcome speaker Dr. Craig Keener to the 2020 Bergdall Endowed Lectureship on Biblical Studies on Tuesday, March 31, at 7 p.m. in Zurcher Auditorium in the Merillat Centre for the Arts.

Keener received his PhD from Duke University and is the F.M. and Ada Thompson Professor of the New Testament at Asbury Theological Seminary. He has authored 28 books, six of which have won awards in Christianity Today.

Keener’s award-winning four-volume commentary on the Acts of the Apostles (2012-2015) includes some 45,000 references from ancient extrabiblical sources. His award-winning popular-level IVP Bible Background Commentary on the New Testament has sold over half a million copies and has been translated into a number of languages.

Keener is married to Médine Moussounga Keener, who holds a PhD from University of Paris. She was a refugee for 18 months in her nation of Congo. Together the Keeners work for ethnic reconciliation in the U.S. and Africa. Their story is published in the book “Impossible Love: The True Story of an African Civil War, Miracles, and Hope Against All Odds (2016).”
