City not distributing stickers for large items for disposal right now

Due to a temporary change, the city is not distributing orange stickers at this time for disposal of large, unwanted items.

However the city continues to offer the program itself, and crews still will pick up couches, mattresses, furniture and similar objects.

To have large items added to a list designated for pickup, call City Services at 356-4720 or the clerk-treasurer’s office at 356-1400 ext. 2019.

A fee is charged per item. After calling the city and making payment, set the items outside as directed before the arranged pick-up time.

Examples of prohibited items include electronics, paint, used oil, chemicals, solvents and construction debris. Drop-off locations normally available for hazardous objects are closed at this time.

Brown Bag Tuesday pickups will continue as planned. Brown bags may only contain compostable items such as grass clippings, leaves and sticks. Residents must contact City Services before each Tuesday  at 7 a.m. for pickup that week.

City crews continue to pick up brush and limbs daily as time allows and the landfill also remains open Tuesdays from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to drop off yard waste.
