Sheets Museum to raffle four-wheeler and guns

These specimens from the Rocky Mountain area of the United States and Canada will be on display through the end of March at the Sumner Sheets Wildlife Museum and Learning Center, 200 Safari Trail, Huntington.

The Sumner Sheets Wildlife Museum and Learning Center now has tickets available for its 2009 Mega Raffle.

Winners will be drawn during the annual Sumner Sheets Fundraising Banquet, to be held on Sept. 12.

The top prize in the 2009 Mega Raffle is a Yamaha four-wheeler. Other prizes to be given away include a Mossburg 20-gauge over/under shotgun and a Marlin .44-caliber Magnum rifle.

Tickets can be purchased at the museum, located at 200 Safari Trail, or at Huntington Heating and Cooling, 4280W-200N; by calling the museum, 356-9453, or Huntington Heating and Cooling, 356-0186; or from any member of the museum's board of directors.

The Sheets Museum has scheduled its second annual Zoo Day at the Farm for May 9 at Z Animal Crossing, 254 N. Wayne Rd. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors can interact with miniature horses, llamas, miniature donkeys, rabbits, chickens, fainting goats, mules, zebra and a z-donk.

Proceeds from the event will help fund operating expenses at the museum.

The Sheets Wildlife Museum and Leaning Center is home to 97 animals and 87 fish from around the world, all harvested by Sumner Sheets. The museum also features a shell collection assembled by Sheets' mother, Elva Sheets.
