Warren TC adopts ordinances

 According to a draft of meeting minutes from the Town of Warren from the Dec. 21, meeting, council discussed the adoption of ordinances, a contract with the Huntington County United Economic Development and the issue of vision insurance.

Kim Hostetler, of the Huntington County Department of Community Development, asked for discussion concerning the planned adoption of Planning Ordinances before the Council. Hearing none, a motion was made and seconded to adopt the ordinances. The motion carried unanimously.

Mark Wickerhsam, the executive director of Huntington County United Economic Development, requested approval of a contract with that entity for the year of 2021 in the amount of $3,000. No changes had been made to the contract and the payment amount had stayed the same as in previous years. A motion was made, seconded and approved unanimously.

During the November council meeting, council member Steve Buzzard had made a motion regarding vision insurance. During the December meeting, Buzzard motioned to have the issue reconsidered. Council members Ethan Stivers, Buzzard and Travis Surfus voted in support of the insurance while council member Carrie Miller voted against. The motion carried.

In other business:

• General discussion regarding the Golfo di Napoli dairy. Clerk-Treasurer Marilyn Morrison noted that, following a meeting with the owner of the dairy during the first week of December, it was understood that the town would not be receiving any payment on the amount owed by the dairy. Further discussion by the council as to how to move forward will have to occur.

• Greg Guerrettaz discussed the transfer of energy purchase from AEP to Wolverine Power in May, noting that a restructuring of rates within the Electric Utility, which has not been done since 1984 and is scheduled for 2021. No rate increase is anticipated, but terms of the rate structure should be updated.

• Continued development of a COVID-19 response plan will be the main agenda item for the Jan. 11, 2021, meeting of the council.
