The Huntington City-Township Public Library will host the Huntington County 4-H Robotics team, Team T.H.R.U.S.T., as the team displays three of its creations at the HCTPL Main Library in Huntington beginning Tuesday, June 29, and continuing through Friday, July 9.
"Scorpion" is a robot designed to shoot sponge balls at targets eight feet high. This machine was Team T.H.R.U.S.T.'s 2006 entry in the international FIRST Robotics Aim High competition.
"Shyhawk" was the team's 2009 entry into the FIRST Robotics Lunacy competition. The robot is designed to pick up and dump moon rocks on a simulated lunar surface.
"Delta" is the 2010 competition entrant, and can dribble and kick regulation soccer balls. The robot recently placed in the quarterfinals at the Boilermaker Regional 2010 Season FIRST Robotics Breakaway competition, and also received the Engineering Excellence Award and the Industrial Safety Award.
Delta and Team T.H.R.U.S.T. also earned a slot at the Northeast Utilities FIRST Connecticut Regional, where the team received the Entrepreneurship Award for the police robot, "Fred" - a firearms training robot for the Huntington City Police Department.
Members of Team T.H.R.U.S.T. will also be present at the Main Library twice during the showcase: Tuesday, June 29, at 6:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, July 6, at 6:30 p.m. The events are free and open to the public, and the library is located at 255 W.
