Fort Wayne firm receives contract for Roche St. work

The Huntington Board of Public Works and Safety approved a street reconstruction project bid during its regular meeting on Tuesday, March 16.

Fort Wayne-based Brooks Construction was awarded a $148,064 contract to reconstruct Roche Street, with plans to replace its brick surface with asphalt. The City of Huntington is funding the project with an Indiana Department of Transportation Community Crossings matching grant.

The board also approved plans for several upcoming events to take place in Huntington, including:

• Music in the City - after its 2020 schedule had to  be canceled, Music in the City was given the green light to return to downtown Huntington on the second Saturday of each month from May through August.

• Half Iron Triathlon - A special event permit request for a Half Iron Triathlon event, hosted by Ruble Triathlon, was approved for the portion of the course that will run between Lake Clare and Huntington University’s cross country course.

• 34th Annual preview show - The Huntington County Cattlemen’s 34th Annual Preview Show received approval and took place on Saturday, March 20, at the Huntington County Fairgrounds.
