VFW Post No. 2689 donated $3,000 to the Purple Heart committee on Wednesday, Sept. 8. The donation was given from the profits from the VFW golf outing, and will be used to help fund the Purple Heart obelisk that will be built and erected on West Park Drive later this year. The obelisk will depict all branches of the military including the Purple Heart logo. Shown in the photo accepting the check are (front row, from left) Mayor Richard Strick, Seth Marshall and Gloria Holzinger, both from the Purple Heart committee, Chuck Kuschel, three year House Committee, VFW Post No. 2689, Curt Vanover, Quartermaster VFW Post No. 2689 and Steve Kimmel, Purple Heart committee; and (back row) Rick Stell, Senior Vice Commander, VFW Post No. 2689.
