Officers respond to crash

On Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, at approximately 10:26 p.m, an off duty Columbia City Police Officer notified Huntington County Public Safety Dispatch of a vehicle crash that he observed on U.S.-24. The Huntington Police Department responded to the accident on U.S. - 24 West of North Jefferson Street.

Units arrived at 10:29 p.m. and learned that a motorcycle had struck a vehicle. Officers immediately began rendering aid. Huntington City Fire Department and Parkview Huntington Hospital personnel arrived on scene and took over medical treatment.

At approximately 11:05 p.m., medical personnel requested the Huntington County Coroner’s office after life saving measures were unsuccessful.

On Monday, Sept. 13, the Huntington Police Department announced that the driver of the motorcycle was identified as Cale S. Hindman, age 25. He was traveling westbound on U.S.-24 from Ind.-5 at a high rate of speed when he struck the rear of another vehicle that was also traveling westbound.
