The Northeast Indiana Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (NEINFAME) and education partner Ivy Tech Community College have opened applications for the fall 2022 cohort. Applications will be accepted until Nov. 1, 2021.
Students selected to the program will pursue a two-year associate degree in Industrial Technology at Ivy Tech while working for a NEINFAME sponsor company. Sponsor companies will provide students with a paid work experience that provides students the opportunity to graduate debt-free and begin a challenging career in two years. The first cohort of 13 students entered the program in fall 2021 and are now beginning their class work and on-the-job training with sponsors.
“The program is great for someone who wants hands-on experience and a high-paying job with minimal college debt, if any at all,” says current NEINFAME student Mason Knuth, who signed with sponsor company Micropulse. “Your classes are picked out for you. It’s way less stressful than any other degree. It’s just a better all-around program if you want to get into manufacturing.”
NEINFAME is part of the national FAME-USA network, which currently has 31 partnerships across 13 states, supported by more than 400 employers.
NEINFAME is also part of the statewide Indiana FAME initiative, which has built similar partnerships in four regions around Indiana. Participants are eligible to apply for additional grants/scholarships, including programs such as Questa and federal financial aid programs, which can maximize their funds for college-related expenses. Tuition is funded through the partnership.
