Property tax deadline coming up

The last day to pay property taxes on time without a penalty is Wednesday, Nov. 10. Failure to receive a tax statement by mail does not relieve the taxpayer of the responsibility for payment and penalties when delinquent.

For the convenience of Huntington County tax payers, payments can be made with a tax bill at local banks: Bippus State Bank, First Farmers Bank & Trust, First Federal Savings Bank, First Source Bank, First Merchants Bank and Lake City Bank.

Payments can be mailed to Huntington County Treasurer, 201 N. Jefferson St., Room 104, Huntington, IN 46750. Taxpayers are asked to enclose their tax bill and print a phone number on the check. If a receipt is requested, taxpayers must include a postage paid, self-addressed envelope.  Mail that is post marked with a date no later than Wednesday, Nov. 10, will be considered on time.

A payment drop box is located outside the Huntington County Courthouse on the Warren Street side.  Checks, money orders or cashier’s checks only in the drop box. Taxpayers that use this method are asked to include a phone number on the check. A tax bill or parcel number must be included and, for a receipt, a postage paid, self-addressed envelope must also be included.

Payments may be made by credit or debit card or E-Check online at billpay.fort
e.net/huntingtoncointax/ or by calling 877-690-3729 use Jurisdiction Code 2421. A fee is charged for the use of a debit or credit card and E-checks. Credit and debit cards are not accepted in the Treasurer’s office. Payments can be made in the courthouse on the first floor, room 104, in the Treasurer’s office during normal business hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only three taxpayers will be allowed in the office at a time.
