Teachers Credit Union is once again sponsoring Huntington's Heritage Days, which will be held June 17-28 this summer.

This is the second year the business has served as corporate sponsor of the event.

The theme for the 2009 Heritage Days festival is "Celebrate Our Town." The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce organizes a number of events and activities, while a host of other groups sponsor a variety of other events.

The chamber sponsors the carnival, parade, downtown entertainment, food, and Marketplace. It is now accepting entries for the parade, which will be held Saturday, June 27, and booths in the Marketplace, which takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 26-28. An antique market, Entertainment on the Mall, children's activities and food vendors will also be available that weekend.

This year the Mid America Show will set up downtown on Monday and Tuesday, June 15 and 16, and open to the public on Wednesday, June 17. As in years past, the midway will include a variety of carnival rides, games and foods to suit the tastes and desires of people of all ages. The midway will continue through Sunday, June 21.

Hot air balloon activities will take place at the Huntington Municipal Airport Friday through Sunday, June 19-21, with the ever-popular Balloon Glow to be held Saturday evening. The airport will also host a variety of activities that weekend.

The Little Miss and Junior Miss Heritage Days Pageant will be held Wednesday, June 24, the same day as the annual ice cream social. The Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe Breakfast will take place Thursday, June 25, at the LaFontaine Golf Club, and the annual Rotary Strawberry Feed will be held that evening.

The Visit Indiana Reception and Cruise-In will be held downtown on Friday, June 26, and the ABWA brat tent will be open to patrons on Friday and Saturday, June 26-27. A 5K run is also planned for Saturday, June 27. One of the final events of the festival is JeFFFest, sponsored by the LaFontaine Arts Council. JeFFFest includes a jazz band and "taste of" foods from a variety of vendors.
