Agriculture photo contest planned

The Indiana State Department of Agriculture is accepting submissions for the annual Indiana Agriculture Photo Contest which is open to all Indiana residents.

“Each year I look forward to seeing the exceptional photos shared through this contest that capture the essence of Indiana agriculture,” said Lt. Gov Suzanne Crouch, Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development.
“We welcome all Hoosiers to submit their photos,” she said.

The contest was created to recognize the hard work and contributions of Hoosier farmers while simultaneously displaying the beauty of the state’s agricultural landscape.
Contestants can submit up to five photos in digital format which will be evaluated on their creativity, composition, and category representation.

There are four categories to submit photos into.
• Firstly, on the farm which showcases any building, piece of equipment or activity that is a part of life on an Indiana farm.
• Secondly, faces of agriculture which features those who grow and produce food, fuel, and fiber in Indiana.
• Next, agritourism which spotlights Indiana’s seasonal and agricultural destinations, like orchards, wineries, and farmers markets.
• Lastly, conservation which highlights Indiana’s natural beauty with landscapes, water, and wildlife.

There are ten total winners: two from each category as well as two overall. Winners are invited to attend a ceremony at the Indiana State Fair.
Here they will be recognized and receive certificates from Crouch and Indiana State Department of Agriculture Director Bruce Kettler.

“This photo contest, now in its fifteenth year, is an incredible representation of the strength, diversity, and beauty of our state’s agriculture industry,” Kettler said.
“I look forward to seeing this year’s submissions, ” said Kettler.

They will also have their photographs featured in the offices of the Lt. Governor’s Family of Business in Indianapolis throughout the year.
