HCCF announces more scholarships

The Huntington County Community Foundation (HCCF) has released another round of scholarships.

The recipients and the scholarship they were awarded are as follows:
• Autum Anderson, Caden Brubaker, Xander Burcham, Wyatt Couch, Micah Holder, Nick Neuenschwander, Garrett Palmer, and Rebeckah Brunner are the recipients of the 2022 Scott Breiner Memorial scholarships totaling $7,500.

Anderson was awarded $1,000. She is a junior at Grace College. Majoring in exercise science and minoring in psychology. She is the daughter of Steve and Pamela Anderson.

Brubaker was awarded $1,000. He is a sophomore at Purdue University West Lafayette majoring in animal science with an agricultural business focus. He is the son of Chris and Carly Brubaker.
 

Burcham was awarded $1,000. He is a graduate of Huntington North High School (HNHS). He plans to study social work at Manchester University. He is the son of Andrew Burcham and Sarah Noll.

Couch was awarded $1,000. He is a graduate of HNHS. He plans to study industrial design at Purdue University. He is the son of Brad Couch and Pauletta Runkel.

Holder was awarded $1,000. He is a graduate of Canterbury High School. He plans to study criminal justice at Ball State University. He is the son of Kimberly Ann Holder.

Neuenschwander was awarded $1,000. He is a graduate of Adams Central High School. He plans to study aviation with a minor in political science at Indiana State University. He is the son of Christy and David Neuenschwander.

Palmer was awarded $1,000. He is a sophomore at Indiana University majoring in exercise science. He is the son of Nathan and Nikka Palmer.

Brunner was awarded $500. She is a sophomore at Manchester University studying exercise science. She is the daughter of David and Sarah Brunner.

• Harrison Niswander is the recipient of the 2022 24 Golf Scholarship. He was awarded $1,000.
Niswander is a graduate of HNHS. He plans to study computer science with a minor in mathematics at Purdue University Fort Wayne. He is the son of Cynthia Niswander and the late David Niswander.

• Amelia Sabinske, Ashley Higgins, and Sophia St. John are the recipients of the 2022 Dorothy M. Coll Scholarship.

Sabinske was awarded $1,000. She is a graduate of Southern Wells High School. She plans to study biology at Ball State University. She is the daughter of Lisa Powell-Sabinske and Phillip Sabinske.

Higgins was awarded $1,000. She is a sophomore at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) studying health sciences/premed. She is the daughter of Jennifer and Jeremy Higgins.

St. John was awarded $500. She is a homeschool graduate. She plans to study environmental science and sustainable development at Taylor University. She is the daughter of Joshua and Myah St. John.

• Josie Eckert is the 2022 recipient of the Dr. Jerry G. Solloway Family Scholarship. She was awarded $250.
Eckert is a graduate of HNHS. She plans to study biomedical sciences at Texas A&M University in College Station. She is the daughter of Matt and Heather Eckert.

• Macy Eckert, Leah Campbell, Olivia Godfrey, Katie Melcher, and Andrew Nash are the recipients of the 2022 Dr. John & Marjorie Hohe University of Saint Francis Scholarship totaling $11,500.

Eckert was awarded $2,300. She is a sophomore at University of Saint Francis majoring in nursing and minoring in nutrition. She is the daughter of Jeremy Eckert.

Campbell was awarded $2,300. She is a freshman at University of Saint Francis majoring in sonography. She is the daughter of Kathy and Scott Campbell.

Godfrey was awarded $2,300. She is a sophomore at University of Saint Francis majoring in health and exercise science with an Associates in physical therapy assistant studies and a minor in psychology. She is the daughter of Jenny and Tom Godfrey.

Melcher was awarded $2,300. She is a junior at University of Saint Francis majoring in health and exercise science and physical therapist assistant. She is the daughter of Gayle and Matt Melcher.  

Nash was awarded $2,300. He is a senior at University of Saint Francis majoring in exercise science. He is the son of Susan and Shawn Nash.

• Amelia Sabinske, Paige McCutcheon, Connor Miller, Miranda Spitler, and Fletcher Sabinke are the recipients of the 2022 George & Garnet Bergman Scholarships totaling $8,250.
Sabinske was awarded $4,000.
McCutcheon was awarded $1,250. She is a graduate of HNHS. She plans on studying digital criminology at Purdue University in West Lafayette. She is the daughter of Shandi and Craig McCutcheon.

Miller was awarded $1,000.
Spitler was awarded $1,000. She is a sophomore at Ball State University majoring in nursing with a minor in public health. She is the daughter of Debra and Dennis Spitler.

Fletcher Sabinske was awarded $1,000. He is a senior at Purdue Fort Wayne studying mathematics education. He is the son of Lisa Powell-Sabinske and Phillip Sabinske.

• Josie Eckert is the 2022 recipient of the Mary Edith Reiff Scholarship. She was awarded $700.

• Meg McDonald, Hudson Winters, and Olivia Rosen are the recipients of the 2022 Robert E. Wilson Scholarship.

McDonald was awarded $1,300. She is a junior at Huntington University majoring in biology and chemistry.  She is the daughter of Bradley and Lisa McDonald.

Winters was awarded $475. He is a junior at Huntington University majoring in animation. He is the son of Marcella and Bruce Winters.
Rosen was awarded $475. She is a senior at Huntington University majoring in nursing. She is the granddaughter of Lisa and Tom Berry.
