HNHS alumni make donation

The Huntington North High School Class of 1972 recently raised $6,300 during its 50th class reunion at Heritage Hall.

With the funds, the class purchased a gazebo for the Huntington Community School Corporation’s Learning Center.

The gazebo was assembled by Dave Harvey’s building trades class. It will be landscaped by Emily Brite’s landscaping class next spring.

In addition to the gazebo, the class donated a seven-piece polywood table and chairs to be placed in the gazebo to be used as an outdoor classroom.

The funds were raised through a silent auction at the reunion, at which items donated by class members and area businesses were auctioned.

At the reunion, there were 287 people in attendance.

American Legion Post 253 of North Webster catered the event, with the Hunting North Varsity Singers and Viking Volume serving.

A special tribute board was displayed in remembrance of their deceased classmates.

Class representatives said the class enjoyed giving back to the school from which they graduated.

Members of the silent auction committee were Jeff Spickelmier, Dave Roth, Lynette (Sprinkle) Rodgers, Pat (Updike) Brown and Joe Wiley.
