PHH to offer free cribs

Parkview Huntington Hospital, through the "Cribs for Kids" program, is offering free portable cribs, crib sheets and pacifiers to families in need of a safe place for their infants to sleep.

Cribs for Kids is a safe-sleep education program for low-income families to help reduce the risk of injury and death of infants due to unsafe sleep environments.

Eligibility is based on financial need. Those who participate in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Medicaid or Hoosier Health Wise are automatically eligible.

In addition, women must be currently pregnant or have a child under the age of one year, applicants must attend a 90-minute in-service about proper crib use and safe sleep practices, and applicants must be willing to be contacted during the use of the crib to be surveyed.

In-services will be held at Parkview Huntington Hospital in the lower-level classrooms, and only one in-service is required. Dates and times for the in-services are:

• Wednesday, Sept. 15 - 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

• Monday, Oct. 18 - 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

• Monday, November 15 - 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

• Wednesday, Dec. 8 - 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

To register, call Angie Lehman, RN, at 355-3651.
