Marching Vikes to district Oct. 2 at Homestead

The Marching Vikes from Huntington North High School head to the district music festival on Saturday, Oct. 2, at Homestead High School, hoping to score high enough to advance to the regional event.

The HNHS marching band will perform at 5:43 p.m., the first band to perform in Class A, the category for the largest schools. The day's competition begins at 11 a.m. with Class D bands.

Awards presentations begin at 7 p.m.

District festivals are being held at seven sites around Indiana. Bands reaching a predetermined score will advance to the regional events, which will be held at four locations on Oct. 16. The top 20 bands from each site will move on to semi-state on Oct. 23, where the finalists will be selected to compete in the state finals Oct. 30 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
