YSB seeks donations of children's clothes, supplies

The "On Your Way Up" incentive store offered by the Youth Services Bureau of Huntington County is in need of gently used, clean infant and children clothing and other baby items.

"Due to an increased demand we are in desperate need of infant and toddler spring and summer clothes, especially for little boys," says Ira Bencun, program coordinator.
Other items that are always needed are diapers, baby wipes, diaper bags and educational toys and books.

"The items in the store are ‘purchased' with vouchers that the parents earn by making healthy life choices for themselves and their children. These activities include well-baby check-ups, attending parenting classes, participating in story hour, etc.," Bencun explains.

"As the economy gets tighter, we are seeing the number of families using the store increase, thus we must seek the community support in order for us to meet the needs of Huntington County's families," says Jan Williams, executive director of the Youth Services Bureau.

Donated items may be dropped off at the office located at 1344 Maple Drive, Huntington. Monetary donations are also accepted. Due to liability concerns, used car seats and baby furniture can not be accepted.
