Members of the 2009 Huntington North High School Post Prom Prize Committee continue their efforts to provide a fun, safe event for the students, and they are looking to the community for support of those efforts.

Post Prom will be held Sunday, May 17 from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. in the HNHS gymnasium.

"The Post Prom serves two very important needs," Prize Committee Chairperson Tami Hurlburt said in a letter that went out to over 500 area businesses. "For the seniors, it is a great way to enjoy their last time together with friends and classmates before graduation. For parents, it is comforting to know the kids are at a place that is both fun-filled and safe."

To get the best student participation possible for the entire night, a drawing and games are scheduled to keep the interest and fun flowing. Post Prom organizers continue to stress the importance of "keeping the kids safe and in one location," Hurlburt noted.

The letters to area businesses went out in March and committee members are now trying to touch base with all of them, either in person or by telephone. They hope to have a variety of items available for the drawing and game prizes at Post Prom.

"Please help us to make this Post Prom Party a memory the seniors will not forget," Hurlburt said. "Your contribution of cash or prizes will be greatly appreciated by students and parents alike."

Anyone interested in making a donation of cash or merchandise is asked to call Hurlburt at 358-6942 or Sheila Rethlake, committee member, at 341-1561.
