Forester Lecture at HU will focus on the Latino community in Indiana

Juana Watson, senior adviser for Latino, immigrant, ethnic and international affairs for the state of Indiana, will address "Indiana's Latino Community, Past and Present" during the Forester Lecture Series at Huntington University on Jan. 25.

The lecture will take place at 7 p.m. in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts on campus.

Watson received advanced degrees from Indiana University and the Graduate Theological Foundation (Indiana), where she currently serves as a professor of Latino affairs. She also founded the non-profit organization Badges Without Borders, which provides public safety personnel with education in the Spanish language and cultural and diversity training. Additionally, Watson has served in the capacity of adviser to President Vicente Fox Quesada of Mexico.

Her presentation will detail the history and current state of Indiana's Latino community.

The Forester Lecture Series is designed to bring interesting individuals and topics to the attention of students and the regional community. The Forester Lecture Series is free and open to the public.
