Andrews library seeking volunteers to help with expansion project

The Andrews-Dallas Township Public Library is looking for volunteers willing to help with general labor and clean-up during the library's proposed expansion and renovation project.

The library will apply for a Community Focus Fund grant through the Office of Community and Rural Affairs. All commitments of volunteer hours help build a stronger grant application.

Volunteers can help with job site cleaning, landscaping, carpentry, reconfiguring bookshelves and moving items including books, shelves, and storage.

Actual work would not be required until grant funding is secured and the construction is underway, estimated to be fall 2011 through spring 2012. However, signed letters of each volunteer's commitment are needed for the application, says Nancy Disbro, Andrews librarian.

For information or to sign up, contact Disbro by Feb. 10. The Andrews-Dallas Township Public Library phone number is 786-3574, and the library hours are Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, noon to 7 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
