Common council to hear more details on Etna Avenue project

The Huntington Common Council will hear more details on proposed improvements to Etna Avenue during its meeting on Tuesday, May 12.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in council chambers, located on the third floor of the Huntington City Building.

Dave Schoeff, assistant director of the city's engineering department, will explain the Etna Avenue project and present a proposal for a storm water fee. Nate Schacht, director of the Huntington Countywide Department of Community Development, will present a plan to fund the city's match to a grant it received to help pay for the project.

The public will be invited to comment on the Etna Avenue project.

Other items on the agenda are:

• A request from Huntington Fire Chief Matt Armstrong and Huntington County Emergency Management Director Brandon Taylor for funds to run water lines from Broadway to an emergency training facility under construction. They will also discuss costs to operate the training facility.

• Consideration of a resolution that would make city spending records more accessible to Huntington residents.

• A report from Steve Carter of Umbaugh and Associates on the city's financial plan and budgets.

• A second and final reading of an ordinance amending penalties for traffic tickets.

• Resolutions dealing with ongoing tax abatements for Good Humor-Breyers and Transwheel.
