The Youth Services Bureau (YSB) recently presented Meg Friesen with the 2021 Steven L. Bailey Award.
“The Youth Services Bureau presents the Steven L. Bailey Award each year as a way to honor the strong commitment to helping young people and their families as Steve,” stated Jan Williams, ED.
The award is presented to an individual or group who has made a difference in the lives of young people through activities that empower, encourage and support young people and their families in Huntington County.
Friesen was selected for her work in the overall health of young people. YSB says “she is vital in the suicide prevention efforts in Huntington County.”
In her role as the Huntington County Community School Corporation Nurse, Friesen “works to ensure that each child is cared for in a holistic approach including the social needs, the mental health, along with the physical and academic needs the each student.”
Friesen is also an “avid champion” to increase activity for children and adults. She has implemented a “walking program for children” and is working with the City of Huntington for the upcoming Skate Park enhancement efforts.
