Dec. 2 marked UB Launch ribbon cutting

Huntington University (HU) representatives, along with the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce, hosted a ribbon cutting for HU’s UB Launch on Thursday, Dec. 2.

UB Launch is a coworking space located at 40 E. Franklin St., Suite 220, Huntington. The goal of the space is to offer entrepreneurs or individuals who work from home a rented office space where they can work, meet clients or host meetings in a professional setting.

HU’s Giovanni Martinez Martini says that the idea for UB Launch originally came when Pathfinder Services was looking for other non-profit organizations to help them rent out the space and HU decided to fill that gap.

“This was originally geared for small business and entrepreneurs, but with COVID-19, offices and stuff weren’t looking for physical space anymore, so we kind of pivoted it towards working from home and people like that,” Martinez Martini said. “But if you have a small business and you want to bring people in for a meeting… or to meet with clients, this is space available for everyone.”

According to HU’s website, “UB Launch is a base camp for those ready to grow. We purposely designed our coworking environment to be a space where you can grow within a community, on your own or as a business when you have clients that you need to impress. UB Launch provides entrepreneurs and business owners the space and community to build enterprises that flourish.”

UB Launch offers two types of membership. General membership gives an individual access to the space during the staffed business hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The second type, 24/7 membership, allows individuals access all the time. Each 24/7 member is given an entry key fob and their own desk.

All memberships include month-to-month membership, high-speed WiFi, printer/copier/scanner access, private phone conference space, conference room access and a personal mailbox.

“The idea and ultimate goal would be a community of small business owners and entrepreneurs that can connect,” Martinez Martini said. “That is what UB Launch is here for.”
