Huntington native in top 10 of NHRA Top Fuel division

Huntington native Josh Hart sits in seventh place after six events in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing series. He is three points behind fifth place Antron Brown and 95 points behind Top Fuel series leader Steve Torrence. “We’ve had a little bit of a rough start this year, but we’re getting there,” Hart told The Huntington County Tab during a telephone interview earlier this season. So far this season, Hart won the Pep Boys NHRA All-Star Callout. The event took place during the 54th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals.

Early Childhood Coalition kicks off

In the fall of 2022, a group of community stakeholders convened to discuss challenges and opportunities in early learning and childcare across Huntington County. From those discussions, it was clear that immediate action was necessary and there was a shared commitment to tackle the work together. The Early Childhood Coalition of Huntington County was born. Huntington County has joined a growing list of county coalitions that make up the newly formed Northeast Indiana Regional Early Childhood Coalition.

HCCSC officials hire HN basketball coach

Huntington County Community Schools announced the hiring of Eric Thompson as Huntington North’s new basketball coach on Monday, May 1. Thompson spent the last seven years at Peru where his teams won sectional titles in 2022 and 2023. Thompson has a reputation for leaving a program better than how he found it. As he leaves a Peru program that went from a sub-.500 team his first three years into a 69-26 over the last four seasons, including the sectional titles, he takes over a Huntington North team that went 8-16 this past.

HN runner advances to girls state finals

Huntington North’s Ella Colclesser placed third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:19.48  at the Carroll Regional Tuesday, May 22, to earn a spot in the IHSAA Girls Track and Field State Finals. The state meet begins at 3 p.m. June 3 at Indiana University Bloomington. The junior also competed in two relays at Carroll, teaming up with Johanna Bragg, Elle McDonald, and Gracie Fields in the 4x800m relay for fifth place, and with Raegan Double, Alyse Geiger, and Fields for a 14th place result in the 4x400m relay.
