VNC programs offer a chance to slow down and reflect on season of Advent
Thursday, November 29, 2012 7:41 AM
Victory Noll Center is offering a pair of events for the Advent season.
"Moving in the Rhythm of Advent" will be held in two sessions on Dec. 4 and Dec. 11. Advent's rhythm is one of waiting and is often overridden by the rush of the holiday season.
Jan Parker and Sue Wilhelm will explore Advent's particular rhythm through gentle Tai Chi, calming breath work, centering prayer and other spiritual practices.
There is a fee for the two sessions. Registration each day begins at 9:15 a.m., with sessions running from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
The second Advent program is "Sacred Journeys." The free event will be held on three days, Dec. 3, Dec. 10, and Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
The Victory Noll Center welcomes all to consider their own Advent journey through this open opportunity. Individuals may come for a few minutes or a couple hours. Opportunities include walking the labyrinth (both indoor and outdoor will be available), listening to Taize music, journaling using art materials or sitting in the chapel for quiet prayer and pondering.
Victory Noll Center is located at 1900 W. Park Drive in Huntington.
