Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller announced Jan. 17 that his office returned more than $3.2 million in unclaimed property to current or former Indiana residents during 2012.

That total includes 245 returns, totaling $86,401.35, to Huntington County residents.

Unclaimed property includes investment earnings, insurance proceeds and benefits, wages and money from savings and checking accounts. Accounts in which there has been no activity for several years are turned over to the state, which attempts to locate their owners.
