Roanoke girl works to give brother dream of lifetime

A 13-year-old Roanoke girl is selling handmade dolphin suncatchers so that her older brother can swim with the dolphins.

Sophia Young wants to send her brother, 23-year-old Caleb Young, to the Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, FL, where he can fulfill a dream of swimming with the dolphins. Caleb has Tetrasomy 18p, a chromosomal disorder that results in medical and developmental disorders. He graduated from Homestead High School and now lives in a group home in Allen County.

Sophia, a student at Emmaus Lutheran School in Fort Wayne, began making and selling the dolphin suncatchers to raise the $15,000 to pay for the trip to the Florida center, which operates a program for individuals with special needs. The trip would include Sophia and parents Kent and Janelle Young, along with an aide for Caleb.
Additional information is available on the "Caleb's Dream Trip" page on Facebook.

Donations designated for Caleb's Dream Trip may be sent to Bippus State Bank, Attention Jennifer Hanson, 577 Geiger Drive, Suite A, Roanoke, IN 46783.
