Police looking to crack down on unsafe drivers

Area police agencies will conduct a high-visibility crackdown on impaired and dangerous driving March 8-24, a period that includes several sporting events as well as St. Patrick's Day.

Locally, the Huntington County Sheriff's Department, Huntington Police Department and Warren Police Department will participate in the crackdown, known as "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over."

Efforts will include sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols and other methods designed to detect impaired drivers.

"We want Indiana motorists to be fully aware of our increased enforcement so that it will encourage people to designate a sober driver or to make alternate arrangements to get home safely," says Huntington County Sheriff Terry Stoffel.
