Team T.H.R.U.S.T. 1501 recaps last competition

Team T.H.R.U.S.T. 1501, the Huntington County 4-H Robotics team, went 6-9 at the Boilermaker Regional at Purdue University that spanned Thursday, March 14, to Saturday, March 16.

After a practice day on Thursday in which the team made upgrades to its robot, qualification matches began on Friday, with the team stumbling due to problems such as the robot's shooter jamming.

The team turned things around on Saturday, however, as it performed well in its final four qualification matches to secure the 24th seed out of 40 teams at the competition.

Allied with Team 1732 and Team 3487, the team opened tournament play against the sixth-seeded alliance of Team 829, Team 1736 and Team 461. Despite scoring over 100 points in two of its three quarterfinal matches, the team was eliminated.

The team did not go home empty-handed, though, as it won the Johnson & Johnson Gracious Professionalism award, which recognizes outstanding sportsmanship.

The team will compete in the Crossroads Regional at the Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute on April 4 through 6.
