HNHS newspaper, ‘The Campus,’ is Hoosier Star finalist in annual contest

The 2012-2013 Huntington North High School newspaper, "The Campus," has been named a Hoosier Star finalist in the annual competition sponsored by the Indiana High School Press Association (IHSPA).

The award is broken down by school enrollment. The newspaper qualified in Division II, which includes schools with 1,000 to 2,000 students.

The Campus received a "superior" rating overall, with "superior" and "excellent" ratings for each category, receiving special distinctions in content/coverage and editing.

All publications rated as either "excellent" or "superior" in the IHSPA's annual critique service qualify as finalists for the IHSPA Hoosier Star Award, the organization's highest honor comparable to a State championship in athletics.  With this distinction, The Campus will be evaluated once again by a separate judge.
The 2012-13 Hoosier Star winners will be announced at the IHSPA fall convention in October.

Since 2010, The Campus has been Hoosier Stars Finalists in 2010, 2011 and 2013, earning a Hoosier Star Merit Award in 2011.

Editors for The Campus are Kylie Frederick and Hannah Scher. Other staff members include Opinion Editor Logan Gochenour, Features Editor Annie Vance and photographers Kaley Higgins and Katie Korporal.

Kari Highley is the faculty adviser for the newspaper.
