Monday, April 29, 2013 7:49 AM
Cheyanne Geideman and Kalvin Miller have been selected as the recipients of Andrews Elementary School's Jason Harlan and Brandon Wilburn Memorial Scholarships.
The scholarship is sponsored by the Andrews PTO to recognize students who previously attended Andrews Elementary. Each winner will receive a one-time $500 scholarship.
Both Geideman and Miller are seniors at Huntington North High School.
Geideman, the daughter of Mona and Scott Geideman, plans to pursue a psychology degree from Purdue University.
At HNHS, she has served as president and special events coordinator of the student council, president and secretary of the German Club and as a freshman mentor.
She is a member of National Honor Society and the Camera Club. She has earned gold and silver awards in the Scholastic art competition, was named Artist of the Month and earned honors at Arts Express.
She is also a member of Leading Leos Junior Lions Club, a 12-year member of Girl Scouts and plays softball.
Miller, the son of Keith and Dawn Miller, plans to pursue a degree in youth ministry or secondary education from Huntington University.
Miller has played varsity basketball, volunteered at the high school basketball camp and at Special Olympics and served as leader of "the pit" student section for football.
He is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, is a Youth for Christ student leader and attends Emmanuel Community Church.
