Huntington University's student newspaper, The Huntingtonian, has once again been recognized for its work during the year by the American Scholastic Press Association.
This year, the paper received first place with special merit in the association's newspaper com- petition. The paper also took home the same award in 2012.
The Huntingtonian was judged among hundreds of other schools across the country. First place with special merit is given to those schools with "special and outstanding design and content," the ASPA says.
The ASPA graded the publications on content coverage, page design, general plan, art, advertising and illustrations, editing and creativity.
"This is a great honor for the newspaper and the staff. They work so hard to report the news to the student body, and it's gratifying to see their work recognized on a national level," said Ashley Smith, staff adviser for the newspaper.
The Huntingtonian is a student-run publication at Huntington University. A staff of eight students produce six print issues each year as well as an online edition.
