Monday, May 27, 2013 8:15 AM
Rachel Decker, of Huntington, has been awarded the 2013 Vincent Allman Scholarship through the Huntington County Community Foundation.
She plans to continue her studies at Manchester University.
Decker, a 2011 graduate of Huntington North High School, is majoring in art and English literature. She is the daughter of Taya and Philip Decker.
At Manchester University, Decker is employed part time in the art department as a gallery docent and student assistant. She has volunteered with 4-H, Victory Noll, the Honeywell Center in Wabash and the Solid Rock United Methodist Church in Warren.
The family established the Vincent M. Allman Scholarship in memory of their son, Vince Allman. The purpose of the scholarship is to support and encourage students who want to pursue a career as an art teacher or in the area of visual art.
